Inspiration- Hands

I always thought that I could be a hand model.  Then I realized that hand models occasionally turn out like this... the most awful person on the planet. So I decided to instead take pictures of my beautifully blue manicured hands doing normal hand things.
My hands occasionally cook dinner.

They also think that they are lax bros.

Inspiration- Contrast

I used to have two dogs, one black and one white.  They always reminded me of the yin-yan symbol.  They contrasted each other not only in color, but also in personality.  Well, my white dog died, but that didn't stop my black dog with being a contrasting color to my white rug.

Inspiration- Something Funny

Something that continually amuses me is my little sister.  She is stubborn, loud, dramatic, and loves the color pink.  I've written before about how much I love being a big sister, but the crazy stuff that my little sister does really makes it a blast.
To this day my proudest moment was when she wanted me to play Kesha on my phone and I told her that I couldn't, and "just sing it yourself."  Well, sing it she did.  In fact, she sang every word of the song "Blow" perfectly, whether or not she knew what "Let me see them Hanes on you," meant.
I like to imagine that she is the coolest kid at school, educating her peers about the awesomeness of Miley Cyrus or showing off the Victoria Justice backpack that I got her for Christmas.
Sometimes, I find myself talking to her like an adult because she's so in tune with pop culture, but then she does things like this and I remember that she's just a goofy, silly little kid who I would do anything for.

Poster Project

For this project, our assignment was to create a poster that catered to a client's preferences.  We had to follow certain guidelines and take criticism on our work.  I really enjoyed this project because it was representative of the type of work a photographer or artist might have to do to make a living.
I chose to make a poster advertising the school drama, William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.  I saw the play when I was 10 and have watched She's the Man (a popular movie based on the play) many, many times.

                                                                                                                                  logankrum.wordpress.com

The themes for this project were nautical, Greek island, and light blue.  I used my personal knowledge of the plot
the play and decided to create a silhouette of a man and woman's face back to back as the centerpiece of my poster.
I created this by shooting the side of two of my classmates' faces and darkening them with photoshop.
In order to keep with my nautical theme, I placed them in the center of a giant anchor, which I manipulated the
color and texture of on photoshop.  I finished by making everything blue and nautical-y, to encompass the theme
that the director wished to advertise.

Inspiration- Something I Love

I am the oldest of the four children in my family.   I have two brother who are 14 and 3 and a little sister who is almost 6.  Something that I love is being an older sister.  I've always wanted an older sister, but since I don't have one I try to make up for it by being the best older sister that I can be.

This is my brother, Carl.  He is loud and annoying and I often ask my mother why I wasn't good enough and she felt the need to have another child.  However, he can be really funny (when his jokes and offensive, but hilarious comments aren't directed at me).  He's also someone that goes through the same stuff that I do, someone who exchanges glances with me in church when the pastor says something creepy, and someone who is reckless but brave enough to climb up in a tree that my grandfather was about to cut down.  One of my favorite things is when he comes downstairs and asks me if his tie looks good with his shirt or asks me about girls.  I know that despite how much he yells at me, I am someone that he looks up to.

This is my little sister.  I was eleven when she was born and I loved having a little sister.  She's like little doll that I can dress up and put makeup on.  She always asks me to do her hair and makeup.  She loves pink and often wears outfits that consist of many shades of it.  She tries to be just like me (she wears mismatched socks and puts her ponytail on the side of her head).  For christmas I got her a little field hockey stick so she could at least try to play like I do.  I recently found out that she is self-conscious about her two front teeth.  I talked to her and told her that her teeth would grow in and be perfect and that all she had to do was remember to brush every night.  Seeing her believe me and gain confidence in herself was awesome.  I love all of my siblings and I often say that I was born to be an older sister.  It is something that I love to do.

Genre Blog

My genre project is centering around street photography, specifically during the holidays.  Christmas (and Hannukah for Marlee) is literally my favorite time of the year.  I start listening to Christmas music as soon as it gets cold outside and I have a small, lit christmas tree in my room almost year round.  Anyway, street photography is often candid pictures of people in their natural environment.  I like it because it can often be funny or ironic and it captures the bustle of everyday life.

This is one of the few pictures that I have found that really embodies street photography and the holiday spirit.  This man is destitute and homeless and his face shows his pain...or he's Jewish.  No matter what, this is exactly the kind of candid shot that I hope to capture.

As I mentioned before, street photography is often amusing or ironic.  I love how the man in the picture is completely oblivious to the fact that he is the subject of a joke, and the photographer is the witty prankster.  This embodies the candidness that street photography often entails.  I think I'll have fun with this project.

Pinhole Camera

As my pinhole camera nears completion, I began looking for some inspiring pinhole photographs by other artists.  Pinhole photos are unique in that you get one chance to take the perfect picture.  The small, cardboard box can hold only one piece of light-sensitive paper so a certain image can only be captured once unlike digital or film cameras.  These pictures were interesting and beautiful to me.  I hope to emulate their beauty in my photographs.

This picture is great because of its simplicity and symmetry.  The colors contrast each other well and I like how the photographer has taken a simple piece of playground equipment and made it beautiful.

This is an example of a long- exposure pinhole photograph.  An otherwise simple or uninteresting picture has been turned into something completely different.  The light abstracts the object rendering it almost unrecognizable which makes the picture art rather than capturing something as it is.
